    Children's Ministry

THE CHILDREN’S MINISTRY OF MEMPHIS FIRST ASSEMBLY IS COMMITTED to connecting a new generation with Jesus Christ by giving children hope and wholeness and opportunities for worship and ministry. We believe the future of the church depends on effective ministry to children today. Through sound teachings from the Bible, meaningful worship, and powerful prayer times, we give kids opportunities to experience God in a fresh way. The children’s ministry is under the direction of our Pastor Sharon Herlihey

  • Nursery & Preschool Care

We love your babies at First Assembly Memphis!

Nursery and preschool care is provided during all services for children birth through age four.

Our nursery provides a warm, caring environment for each child. It is staffed by paid and volunteer workers. Each nursery class includes a wide variety of playtime activities appropriate for each age group.

Each child is assigned a number that matches the number on the sticker given to the parent. If for any reason your child needs your attention during a service, you will be contacted via your cell phone. Safety of each individual child is of primary concern in the First Assembly Memphis nursery and preschool.

  • Children’s Missions

Boys and Girls Missions Challenge (BGMC) is the Assemblies of God missions program for children that instills a heart of compassion to reach the lost through praying, giving and going. All funds raised through BGMC go to meet critical needs around the world such as feeding programs, water wells, Bible schools, curriculum and whatever else a missionary needs in their region.

At First Assembly Memphis, children are encouraged to save coins in yellow containers called Buddy Barrels which is given to them when they arrive to Children’s Church. The last Sunday of each month is called BGMC Sunday and during that time an emphasis is placed on a particular country. On BGMC Sundays all the children bring their Buddy Barrels to Children’s Church, filled with the money they have raised, and it is collected in a special missions offering.

    Junior Bible Quiz

Junior Bible Quiz (JBQ) is a ministry program that meets every Wednesday from 5:30-6:30pm in Rm. 263 and is designed to help children develop a love for the Bible and an understanding that its truth can guide their lives daily.

JBQ offers a fun, exciting way to motivate children to understand the all-important truths in God’s Word. Through cooperative learning, children work together on teams to learn and understand questions and answers from the Bible. Then using cooperative competition, the children meet with other teams for a fun quizzing match. There are twenty questions in a match, with two teams of quizzers trying to beat each other to the buzzers to get the first shot at the answers. JBQ is perhaps the fastest growing discipleship program in children’s ministry throughout the nation.
