Juvenile Court Ministry
On the Second Sunday of each month, a group from First Assembly travels down to the Juvenile Court facility on Adams to minister to boys and girls ages 10 to 18. These are young people who have been sent to this facility for several reasons, some more serious than others. Many will stay at the facility for several months waiting to find out if they will be released or if they will be remanded over to the Shelby Training Center. In some severe cases, then can be held over and sent to 201 Poplar to be tried as an adult. Many of these boys and girls do not have strong homes, nor supportive parents. Often they are left down at the facility for days and sometimes weeks without having a visit from a family member or friend. This is where we step in.
three ways to be involved:
-
Join with the First Assembly Group when they visit on the second sunday afternoon of each month
-
donate christian books that are in good condition
-
call down to juvenile court (xxx-xxxx) and volunteer to visit the kids on monday nights
